Learning
Learning is at the heart of our offer. We believe that learning should be active, creative, inspiring and personal. It should be based on the CYP (child or young person) interests wherever possible and should match their individual needs. The CYP will be given frequent opportunities to explore their own interests and to put the skills they would have learned into practice.
Understanding routes to a successful career including academic, career-focused and occupational options will be achieved with the embedded Gatsby benchmarks in the curriculum. Effective learning will cover a wide range of skills and these skills will be at the heart of all teaching. The CYP will also need to learn social and personal skills and key numeracy and literacy skills to achieve their best in life. Effective learning will happen beyond the classroom, in the natural world and their wider community. Our curriculum will be enriched with intriguing/creative resources, interesting visitors and trips off site in order to enhance the CYP’s learning. Learning will take place in small group with a high teacher/student ratio. High quality, caring and knowledgeable staff with ongoing professional development will be an important factor to guarantee successful outcomes for the CYP and the referrer.

Achieving
We believe that the CYP should experience the pleasure and satisfaction of achieving. The CYP will be encouraged to understand that we achieve by recognising and facing challenges. Competition with oneself or working as part of a group are aspects of achievement that the CYP will be encouraged to explore . We believe that the CYP will be able to enjoy and achieve through carefully planned lessons and their involvement in setting their own targets.
